![]() Star Rail doesn't seem like it has that problem AND it's turn-based, meaning its existence is likely to be a massive threat to all the other turn-based gacha out there. Thing is, most gacha are also turn-based, and Genshin as an action RPG runs pretty badly and feels janky to play on potato phones. Like that Secret of Mana gacha didn't even last a whole year before announcing that it was ending. All their gacha games have either ended service or are quickly dying. I've only heard of SE releasing Octopath CotC and Echoes of Mana last year, both of which had already been released in Japan and/or were in development long before Genshin's release, and that's about it. ![]() It also seems like attempts from publishers like Square Enix and Capcom to make more gacha versions of their IPs have ground to a halt in the wake of Genshin's success, because they straight up can't and are unwilling to compete in quality. Their success appears to have been so explosive that it feels like there's been a major shift happening in that industry away from the PvP/leaderboard-focused gacha of old towards single player campaign-style gacha. At least it looks like they are putting their success to good use by actually re-investing into their games, rather than just sitting on their asses and making bank like 90%+ of other gacha.
